never liked any of the series probably never will. that being said the movie that is in theaters was awesome.

Have to go with TNG, it's what I grew up on:biggrin: The characters really had time to develop and "grow". I have to admit, I do cry a little every time at the end of "Nemesis". Data was one of my favorites. I must have been under a rock before seeing that movie for the first time, because I did not see that one coming.
The original series is really the only other one I like tho.

Big +1

I have to say the biggest reason why I liked TNG so much was the chemistry between the cast. It just worked. Data and Geordi were my favorites. (I must confess that I think Star Trek is largely responsible for why I am becoming an engineer.)

I voted for the multi-choice option. I grew up watching the re-runs of the classic series with my Dad, then TNG with my cousin when those were on tv, then Deep Space 9. I stopped watching after that, because I hated Voyager. Enterprise is okay, but I couldn't get past Scott Bakula...I kept expecting him to say something like "Geez, Al, what am I supposed to do??"

And the movies were all pretty awesome. I think Star Trek 2 and 4 will always be personal favorites. I haven't seen all of the TNG films, or the newest film, but I'm excited to see it soon!

TNG, because the characters are the most well-developed. If you watch the entire series, there is a VERY significant growth and change in how the actors learn their characters and how they all interact with each other. The acting in the episodes in season one seems awkward and clumsy compared to seasons 4, 5 and 6...

This is why I am so conflicted about them ever starting a new series. How could it ever top TNG? Or find a captain better than Jean Luc??

+1 TNG was the best.

The original, for some old reasons. These have been around for awhile.

100 Reasons Kirk is better than Picard

100. Kirk is a leader, not a follower.

My favorite Trek episodes are all from TNG; Yesterday's Enterprise, All Good Things, Time Squared, The Nth Degree, Clues, Cause and Effect, Inner Light, anything with Q, etc. Unfortunately, the first couple of seasons had some (IMO) truly horrid episodes. I felt DS9 and Voyager were more consistant in their quality, even though no episodes stand out like the aformentioned gems from TNG.

So, from a which series is best, I voted I can't choose. If you had asked which series had the best episodes, I would have clearly voted TNG.

I will be floored if Voyager or Deep Space 9 get a single vote...

Unless the votes come from a Masochist.

I liked some of the individual stories from TNG best, although I really liked the story of Voyager. They had one mission, one struggle, to overcome. Even though they could only start by pointing the ship in the right direction and pressing the gas, they never gave up.

TOS.

However, a few comments:

TNG when the cast gelled (season 3 onward) was good in places, although the writing was uneven ("Yesterday's Enterprise" was one of the best shows of any ST episodes.). I always thought Starfleet should have moved Picard "upstairs" and given the Enterprise to Riker. "TNG: Dr. Pulaski Show" (season 2) was dreadful. And Wesley . . . don't get me started.

Voyager: Janeway was the only captain in any "next gen" series that had 'nads. Picard couldn't handle the Borg the way Janeway could (and did).

DS-9. Not bad, but I lost interest in season 4 or so.

Enterprise: I really liked this series (I didn't have any Quantum leap baggage), and the season-long story line they did was very well done. The cast seemed to gel very quickly, which was unusual for a post-TOS series.

If I had to rank them (and I did enjoy all of them for the most part):

1. TOS
2. Enterprise (tied)
2. Voyager
3. TNG
4. DS-9

I'm probably the only one who has them in this order. :tongue_sm

This is still my favorite for the same reason. The actors worked well with each other.

Any comments on the new movie? I really enjoyed it, although some of that casting was a bit amusing.

Oops, I see that there is already a thread on the new movie.

I don't even consider Enterprise as viable-never watched it or wanted to.

Now the Next Gen and Deep Space Nine-woohoo!:w00t::w00t::w00t:

The TNG Episode Q-PID, because of my favorite Worf quote:

"Sir, I protest - I am NOT a merry man!!"

Also, the TNG Episode CAUSE AND EFFECT because I remember sitting there with all my friends in the dorm totally stunned because Enterprise just exploded. It was actually stuck in a time-loop so it blew up several times in that episode. Definitely one of the best.

TNG just had a really great balance of geekiness and humor. Both Data and Worf had some really funny lines over the years it was on.

I liked DS-9 the most of the bunch. TOS and TNG both had great episodes, but the overall flow of story arcs and the interconnectedness of the characters is what made DS-9 stand out. IMO, the series was made with a big, novel-like vision, where as the others were more like successive short stories.

Never cared for the socialist utopia aspect of the ST universe. I understand it got mundane survival out of the way for more clean and clear morality plays, but it had its dark side in making business men villains on a regular basis (culminating with the Ferengi in TNG). In this regard, Firefly was an anti-ST and this is one of several reasons I put it above all the ST series as my fave Sci-Fi show.

I started with TNG and it's still my favorite. TOS was good but it wasn't the best. I think TOS was essential to set the stage for every series after but I think there was way more character development in TNG.

After that, DS9 was the first series to keep a continuous story from one episode to the next which I understand bothered some people, but I think it was closest to Gene Roddenberry's "man vs man, politics, religion, etc." theme from TOS. Voyager had its moments and I watched nearly every episode but you could tell they were running out of ideas. As for Enterprise, I kept waiting for him to leap.

I saw the movie yesterday and thought it was great. Even Mrs. Chip loved it. It's not Star Trek the way I'm used to but it was a really good movie.
