I am thinking of trying a Slant for the New Year, my current go to is my beloved Red Tip. I tried the slim adjustable and it did nothing for me. So I am thinking of either the Merkur 37C or the 39c. Any suggestions?

The weight and balance of the 37C will be somewhat similar to your Red Tip. The 39C is much, much heavier. I was able to get a very close shave with the 39C, but too many times it left my face feeling raw. I get a very close shave and very consistent shave with the 37C. I ended up selling the 39C.

I'm partial to heavier, longer handles ... so the 39C was the way to go for me. Paired with a Feather blade, it has become my favorite razor.
The only downside is that it does its best work when it has 3 or more days of whiskers to harvest, so I can't use it every day.
