Which Edwin Jagger?

Anyone have an opinion as to which new Edwin Jagger razor has the most grip, the lined, the ebony or ivory?

I got the lined and the ebony.

Surprisingly the ebony is one with the best grip.

The material is non-slip to me.

Plus it looks great but all EJ razors do.

I have the ivory chatsworth and the 89L and I much prefer the latter. The shorter handle gives me more control, has better balance, looks fantastic, and is half the cost. Need I say more.

I had an 89 with the lined handle and I didn't like the grip at all. If you have the slightest amount of soap residue on your hands it I'll be difficult to hold. I wish I'd have gone with the ivory.

Well, just to muddy the waters further...

I have the EJ DE87 (the ivory-handled version), and I've never had any issues with the razor slipping in my hand. Mere water will not make the shaft any more slippery (at least for me) and I don't normally get soap/cream that far down the shaft. I'm not exactly a troglodite when it comes to my shaving ritual -- I'm a neat 'n' clean kind of guy, so take my report with however many grains of YMMV as you wish.

I have the 89L and have had no grip issues.

Need to append my comment. When I grip the 89L I hold it such that the bottom of the handle rests atop my little finger. That is just the way I balance it in my hand. And, because of that, I doubt that it will ever slip.
