Where to get the best cigar sampler?

Just as the title says, I'm looking for samplers that are actually really good. Like blade samplers it seems like most cigar samplers are an excuse to get rid of the cigars that nobody likes. I'm looking for samplers that contain some of the brands that are highly spoke of around here. I'm also looking for good 15-20 count humidors, and a cutter if anyone has advice

Try going to Cigars International - cigarsinternational.com. They have a ton of sampler packs to try.

CI is a great site, be sure to check out their daily/weekly deals. Also check out www.cigarmonster.com, they have a new deal each hour. My experience with samplers is you can usually do better buying sticks individually or in 5 packs. I like to smoke more than 1 stick before forming an opinion on it anyway. Also tampa humidor has great deals on individual sticks and free shipping.

Thanks for the suggestions, today I went to a great shop here in Michigan. Bought a single flame Firebird torch lighter, and a Firebird double guillotine, and a simple 10 count humidor, along with a Romeo y julieta churchill that was priced right.

This is a good question. Can someone tell me how much I need to spend per cigar to make sure I get a "good" one? When I first tried pipe smoking I almost gave up because the cheap tobacco was so gross.

Price is not always a good indicator. I've tried some expensive cigars and walked away disappointed, I've also tried some cheapies that were quite good. What are you looking for in a cigar would help to make some good suggestions for you.

I guess want to try as few as possible to get a good sense of the cigar world. I'm hoping I won't like them since pipe tobacco is so much cheaper. :biggrin1:

I'd suggest smoking cigars from your local cigar shop. Tell them your preference in flavor and strength, and have them point you in the right direction. Buy a few cigars from them, smoke them, and THEN order the sampler packs from the online vendors.

There are just too many brands that are all based on personal preference, so it's hard to find out what you like with 5-10 randomly picked cigars. Online descriptions are tough when they all say "Powerhouse! Flavor Packed!" and the like.

OK, this is what I did and what I am still doing. I enjoy mild cigars. Full flavored cigars are too strong for me right now. I am not so much concerned about name brand as I am finding that you get both nice and poor quality in any brand and that a cigar you liked from a well known brand you may not like the second time around. I have also found that you are better off buying a larger humidor than you think you will ever need because as you try things you may want to have some on hand or may get a nice deal on something you like and then have no place to store your new purchase. I have a Ronson Jetlite torch and it works very well and costs $3 @ Wally's World. I can not really tell you to try XYZ brand, but rather try mild bodied cigars at first and work from there. Also the fatter the cigar the cooler the smoke, so I prefer a ring gauge around 50 or so. I hope this helps.

Jack Schwartz (you can find them online, and the service and quality will be, trust me on this, unmatched) is currently doing themed "Weekly 12" samplers that actually contain high quality cigars (usually 2 each of 6 different) instead of seconds, house brands, and overhyped overstocks. Give 'em a try.
