What's new

Where does a/s fit in your routine.

What procedure do you use when applying a/s, do you put on a/s first then balm or whatever you use or balm etc then a/s, and why?

Splash first, then balm. I feel like doing it in reverse, the splash would wash the balm off, whereas with splash -> balm, the balm just goes on top.

This is completely nonscientific, of course.

I begin with an AS and then follow with an ASB if needed. My feeling is that the AS could "wash off" some of the ASB, I've noticed that some of the moisturizing qualities of my ASB can be nullified when followed by an AS.

-warm water rinse
-witch hazel
-cold water rinse
-alum/styptic
-aftershave balm/lotion applied to air dried face
-aftershave splash
-more aftershave balm/lotion PRN

The last few times I shaved, I did the following:

Rinse with warm water
~50/50 Pinaud (various flavors)/Thayers Witch hazel
let it dry, then rub in some Nivea Sensitive skin ASB.

it seems to be working well, as I have not had any irritation from the last couple of shaves. This could be technique improving (only been using a DE for about 3 weeks), or it could be the products working as needed. Not sure, but I'll continue as long as it is working.
