Where do you buy your music?

For me its usually online from www.play.com or from Fopp (picture below)

Play.com has more choice of stock but sometimes its nice to hold the cd/dvd in your hand. The Fopp store is on 3 levels (street, basement & 1st floor) there are no places to sit down and test out albums on headphones but they have crammed a lot of stock into the space they have.

Saw what I think was this store briefly on a tv show and wondered where you lot go.

Mostly Amazon (US/UK/CA) these days. A few years ago when I was buying a lot of Irish punk, I would order direct from the band. But even most of those bands are now on Amazon.

I get mine from a reseller such as Half Price Books. I don't have any desire to snap up the latest stuff as it comes out, so I don't do the regular music stores.

I get everything digitally now. It's nice not having to deal with jewel cases. Long gone are the days of CD storage units and all the crap that goes in them!

I'm a napster subscriber, and the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ability to listen to whatever you want wherever you want is great, plus, you accrue "downloads" that you can use to grab tracks or entire albums free of charge (or "included in your rate", I should say). And for what they charge, I think the benefits far outweigh the costs. Additionally, if you have a SONOS system and an iPhone or Android device, you can control your speakers from your phone and tap into Napster's library. Very cool.

The only real disadvantage is sometimes artists / record labels will not climb on board and allow their music to be streamed. In those cases, I go elsewhere to buy... but absolutely, definitely, and emphatically NEVER ON iTUNES!!!

EDIT: Oh, and another MAJOR disadvantage is that they are now charging increased rates to stream the same music to mobile devices (via apps). I haven't decided if I want that feature that badly yet.

Itunes for me.

Luckily though a lot of musicians I listen to release free albums/mixtapes so many purchases aren't needed.

Amazon for CDs, Acoustic Sounds and other catalogs for vinyl, and Mosaic Records for their CD collections. I actually listen to music with speakers sometimes, as opposed to my iPod/headphones, and I want the highest quality sound--still not available through downloads, as far as I can tell.

You are supposed to buy music??? Hum...
Seriously though, Wal-Mart usually. Ocassionally from Amazon and a very, very rare ebay. I dont get much new stuff.
