Winter, spring, summer or fall, all you have to do is call ...

Which season strikes you as the best foil for the Hamman?

For me, it would be when every other rose-scented fragrance in the world was gone, and I was sure that I wouldn't run into anybody I know.

Which is to say I have a very strange relationship with Hamman. The baby oil note that underlies the rose really puts me off. At the same time, it's something that I don't mind splashing on after a shower or a hot bath if I'm going to just be around the house. I can imagine using it at some Victorian era spa.

Voted winter for this one, and very cold winter days at that. It's fairly Oriental, stuffy, and powdery, making it a bad choice (for me) in warmer weather.

I voted Fall, but I would really say any season. I really like it, but it seems like basically a "light oriental" with good complexity, so no big deal re what season it is.

This is one funky-*** fragrance! I think it has too much floral character to be a hot-weather favorite, but it is great in just about any other weather.

Okay all you 'anytimers', the whole 365 thing is cool, but still try to comment about which season is the best for Hamman! (Not that you'd have to give it up the rest of the time, but there's got to be a 'ne plus ultra' time for it too!)

I'm a firm believer in wearing whatever you want whenever you want. Yesterday was about 90 degrees here and I wore C&S No.88 which is widely considered a cold weather scent. I tend to agree, but I just felt like wearing it... so there!

That being said - I cannot wear Hammam Bouquet at all. It turns to cat **** on my skin:eek:

I find it a very stuffy rose with a strong, offensive mineral oil note. If I were to wear it, winter would be best. I would prefer Floris no. 89.

I voted for Fall, and specifically those chilly, late Fall days. Perfect for a scent with Hammam's character.

I got a handful of Penhaligon's samples a while back, and honestly Hammam was my least favorite of the lot. I may try testing it again, but I doubt it's going to grow on me.

Another vote for "never". I was in the Penhaligon's shop in NYC a year ago or so. Hammam Bouquet was the worst fragrance in the store to my nose. Stick with Blenheim, Endymion, or Opus 1870 for me.

If I want rose I'll go for Le Labo's Rose 31 or C&S No. 88

Funny how this thread seems to have turned into a bash Hammam. Much as I like Penhaligon's I just couldn't get a taste for HB so it's a "never".
