When I'm bored around the house

I just wanted to see if anyone else messes around with their shaving gear when there is nothing else to do. I work midnight shift and am home alone all day while the wife works and I just recently finished renovating our living room. Since that project has finished, I've found myself going to my shave den when boredom sets in. Yesterday I cleaned and oiled all my razors, stropping the straights on balsa beforehand. Today I made test lathers for three brushes that are probably already broken in. They are sitting in the bathroom with the lather coating the bristles as we speak. Tomorrow I might alphabetized my soaps and creams, the aftershaves will be the next day. I think I need to start another home improvement project. Anyone else do any of this?

Oh yes :biggrin1: I have all my shaving goods already organized how I like them. If nothing needs any maintenance, then I usually start sniffing my soap and creams. Maybe apply some extra AS lol.

+1 on that

i smell the brushes as well.

i recently bought a badger brush and when i took out my dog went crazy and was chasing me all over the house while i had it, specially after i wet it and the badger smell was even stronger.

I always smell the brushes and soaps! I didn't say before because I thought it was weird. Come to think of it, it is weird, but at least we are all weird together.

I confess.

I'm a serial soap sniffer.

If someone made candles that smelled like Col Conk Bay Rum and TOBS Sandlewood I would reach olfactory Nirvana.

don't know if might work (i say why not) but you could set a soap inside a small or empty glass candle holder and put it on one of those candle warmers.

I'm an un-apologetic AS sniffer. In my n00b days, I used to make practice bowls of lather when I was bored. Great way to learn!

+1 Definitely an interesting smell. I remember when I got my brush in the mail from The English Shaving Company. My dog immediately stole the tube that the brush was packaged in and proceeded to destroy it

Yeah, I admire my razor. Sniff my soaps and do some slight maintenance on my brush. Run a comb thru it, gently shape it. And then sniff it. If I'm walking by the bathroom I'll pop in quickly and sniff things

As a new de shaver with a bunch of new soap and cream samples., I like to practice my lather making skills on my free time.
