When did they start adding the ZIP Code to bottle labels?

I'm moving this down here from a sticky...

Anybody know if there are rules of thumb or regulations for when ZIP Codes were added to bottle labels? I know ZIPs started in the early '60s but Old Spice did add their Jersey ZIP on the bottle until '67.

My immediate concern in English Leather All Pupose Lotion, since I'd like to date it as closely as I can, but I'm interested in general as well. Thanks!

As far as I know they dribbled in, like URLs in the 1990s. If there is a law or regulation requiring zip codes on product labels, that would be news to me.

So the presence of a zip code tells us that a label was printed in or after the year zips were introduced. But absence may not mean much.
