What's your yearly Shaving Gear Allowance?

We got into traditional wet shaving to save money right? Does anyone keep track of how much they spend and/or have a yearly Shaving Gear Budget Allowance that they keep to or try to keep to?

I once calculated that I spent about $110 a year on Carts, Goo and Aftershave so with a long term view, I always hoped that my new hobby of DE shaving would pay for itself someday. So far I failed but on a good note my AD is limited to desirable vintage razors that I got at a good price and should hold their value. What about you?

I don't have a budget; I would need to live several centuries to have saved more money than just using disposable cartridges.

Big expense this year? A jar of MdC for $62. The only other big expense this year would be for a handful of TGN knots, but I'm not counting that. They will probably end up on BST. I could easily spend $0 for the next 3 years with what I have stockpiled (blades, soaps, creams).

I try not to calculate such things. It's in my best interest that I do not know the number. That way I don't have to lie when questioned by SWMBO. :biggrin1:

They say there's larger "startup" costs for DE shaving. I find this to basically be true, except that my "startup phase" has lasted ~6 months...and might last until the 2014 Sabbatical :wink2:.

$0.00
i got over my initial Aquisition Disorder, and now have enough for more than a year likely 2-3 years. I like the products I have and will replace them when done. At the rate the soaps and creams are being used it will be a long time till I need more.

Lets see, 4 plus 6, divided by 1.7897 plus 45 x 6, carry the 3 ..... I report $27.50 to SWMBO on the official books every 6 months, then we have the "not reported, it's an investment ledger"

Unacceptably Lasering Chicken Giblets?
I have no idea.
I work overtime to pay for toys (hunting, fishing, shaving related items, etc..)
If I don't work overtime, I don't play.

LOL! I think like many of the fellas, I myself do not have a budget, although the wife thinks otherwise!
Maybe I should set one! ;) But we're all "Saving" right? Not using cartridges and all... ;)

i try to keep it under $300 a month...and usually fail miserably. I am grateful everyday that I have the means to easily support this...

I can't see anyone with shaving AD going broke on this stuff. Be thankful you don't have WIS or GAS (Watch Idiot Syndrome or Gear/Guitar Acquisition Syndrome). Some of those guys' collections are worth more than their houses.
