What's the difference ?

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these two Merkurs ?
I can't quite see the difference .
I'm guessing one is polished and the other one is the matte version ?

From the photos there doesn't seem to be a difference. Since they are both identified as the chrome plated 38C they may have made a mistake on their web site. Yeah, they both look like the barberpole HD's.

I have 2 of them the safety bar, and the open comb. I find that on days when I have a longer growth of beard the extra weight of the razor is a nice change from my 1904 or HD.

The barberpole HD was the first razor I bought when I started DE shaving. I didn't like it at first and just put it away thinking I'd sell it. I'm glad I kept it though, because as my technique improved I now find it a nice change from my go to razor's.

The 22671 model is an open comb razor. The 22688 model is not.

I thought that at first, but the 22671 does not look like open comb in the "Zoom". Note that Merkurs' safety bars are rippled and can look like an open comb at a casual glance. Also the overall design of the safety bar and OC heads are different. The OC cap and guard are more closely fitted together where the safety bar design raises the blade up a bit. Both of those pictures show the safety bar design.

But, it could be that one or the other IS open comb, but the pictures are messed up.

I think a note from Shavemac will be needed to figure this one out.

After looking at closeups, it looks like they might be the same. Guess you will have to wait to hear back from the vendor.

They were in fact the same and he took it off the site .
