What's in your Dopp bag?

I will be in France for a little this summer with my girlfriend. We will be visiting her parents in Leone. I am torn as to what I should pack as far as scent. I have full lines in T&H 1805 and Trafalgar. I will have my Simpson Case with travel tube. I won't pack a bowl as I learned to lather on my face. As far as razor I am either taking an EJ Diffusion or a Merkur 1904. Blades I will have to check in with my luggage I suppose. I will also have my military brush.

I may have some Bay Rums added to my collection by then. I may take those too? Decisions, decisions.

Not planning any trips in the near future..

But, ahhhhhhhhh.... France...

Left Pocket:
Spare eyeglasses.
Toothbrush, toothpaste.

Center Compartment:
Nivea Double Action Face Wash.
Synthetic Chamois cloth.
Comb, Hairbrush.
Deodorant.
Small bottle of talcum powder.
Travel pack of Q-Tips.
Hand moisturizer.

Right Pocket:
Gillette Slim Adjustable H2
Pack of Astra-SP blades.
KMF unscented shave cream, 1oz travel size.
KMF moisturizer, 1oz travel size.

I carry it back and forth to work every day in my rolling backpack, although I only use it two or three times a month. Mostly to brush my teeth.

France is a lovely place. I love how they cook a steak and am now pulling mine off the grill at home when they are still bleue ...


In my Dopp:
50s British Rocket Flare Tip with Derbys (kept in a plactic travel case meant for a bar of soap)
Wilkinson Sword synthetic brush (kept in an old toilet paper roll cardboard tube)
C.O. Bigelow cream (one side of a contact lens case)
Aveno Moisturizer (other side of a contact lens case)

along with other typical toiletries (shampoo, toothbrush etc)

Currently, I've got travel tubes for AoS Sandalwood cream and preshave, and a travel of TOBS Sandalwood AS gel. Dovo Silvertip travel brush and ... a Mach 3. But I'm probably going to be changing all of that up soon!

The AS gel has got to go... It works well, but just way too strong and I don't care for the feel of it. AoS was just for convenience; bought a travel set a long time ago and it's the only travelable stuff I have right now; so in the Dopp it goes. As for the razor... also for convenience. Gets the shave over with so I'm not hogging the bathroom at my fianceées parents' place. I'm quicker with a straight, now, so I might toss my Dovo 4/8 in there for the next trip.

She likes T&H 1805... so I may just fill my Dopp with that line and call it done... depending on how I like the shave sticks I just bought off ssilcox.

How long are you going for?

I would take just the minimum, as there are lots of good products to buy in France - in particular shaving soaps and creams.

Any decent drugstore, Carrfour (large chain grocery store) or Monoprix (chain department store) will have a good assortment of EC creams and soaps for very cheap prices (Palmolive, Nivea, Wilkinson, Mon Savon), as well as decent blades and after shaves.

I realize that Leone may be a small town - and that you may have to go to a larger town/city to find one of these stores.

Have fun you lucky duck - I've yet to have a bad trip to France.

Haven't traveled with creams yet, I'd imagine they're pretty safe though.
