I can vote what my lady wants.
I think it depends on the age of the woman. Under the age of 35 they probably prefer their men with the 5 o'clock shadow, and older than that like the well groomed man.

My wife likes a little me rugged, but she also likes my BBS with AS look and smell every 3rd morning before I go on duty at the firehouse.
I know what they don't want.... Beard burn

I don't know about women - but I know my wife likes a nice, smooth face.

I asked my wife about the poll (I have a smooth face of course) and she said shadow......there was an unfortunate silence for a bit, then she said I ​look good with a smooth face.

My girlfriend prefers a short beard, or at least a couple of days worth of scruff – which is unfortunate for her 
When I shave really close, my wife notices. In fact, she touches my face. (Really.)
I am sure there are numerous women who are attracted to the rugged look of a scruffy man, but there aren't many who like the feel of those same whiskers. I vote BBS.
Women want both. I need a button for that option. They want the fashionable "shadow" but also want a well groomed BBS face to love on. I still believe that fashionable 5 o'clock shadow started because some celeberity (sports, film, whatever) rebelled against his carts.
