What to do with this Stone

I bought a Suntiger Water Stone at an antique store, The stone appears to be in the 1000 to 1200 grit range based to the finger nail test. Outside of needed a lapping on the bottom it seems to be okay, except that the previous owner used oil on it. I'm wondering what to do with it is it now an oil stone or can I clean it? What do you suggest?

I've cleaned a synthetic oil stone pretty successfully with oven cleaner in the past.

Thank you Legion

I tried another method first and I'm kind of shocked that it worked. After posting I got to thinking how I cleaned an oil spill in the Garage. The Cat Litter and soapy water wash trick. So I stuck the stone in the cat litter bag, this is before the cats got it. I pulled it out tonight, and washed it with soap and water. The stone looks new. I tried to take a picture but I need more light.
