What's new

What to buy this week?

OK, people, I need some encouragement/enabling!

This is currently on my list of stuff to buy this week to feed my new addicti...er, to support my personal grooming needs:
Proraso shaving soap
Proraso pre/post cream
Proraso aftershave splash
Pinaud Clubman aftershave
Old Spice original aftershave
Thayers unscented witch hazel with aloe

But, I need more! I also want to get some RazoRock products to try (looking to get a preshave, soap, and aftershave), so some suggestions there would be good I've also heard some good things about a Floid Blue aftershave, but it seems to be nearly gone from the market, so is it really good enough to pay almost $40-$50 for a bottle? And are there any other soaps or aftershaves I "just gotta have?" (for soaps, I already have Tabac, MWF, and Cella, and my aftershave is L'Occitane CADE balm).

so much for saving money by switching to DE shaving... :001_cool:

Go for some of the RR aftershave balms. I have the P-160, a light almond scent but great on my face, not greasy at all. The RR S.Maria will complement your Proraso selection.

Who carries Thayer's nowadays?
I usually find Thayer's Witch Hazel at GNC or Whole Foods grocery store. Or even the Thayer's website has a good sampler pack.

If you are looking for encouragement and enabling this is the best place haha. @Tannhauser you can't go wrong with D.R. Harris Arlington soap. I've never heard of Floid Blue, that does seem a little high for an aftershave to me. And I like the Proraso red cream, makes for a nice lather.

Get all 3 aftershaves !! Pinaud Clubman + Old Spice Original + Proraso....I have all 3 and they're all great so what are you waiting for?

Edit * Absolutely yes to the Floid Blue ! My fav AS among the lot!

AS has alcohol and you seem to be looking at a lot of that, get a balm, much better for your skin. Proraso makes the balm and AS, get the balm if you are set on Proraso. It is super menthol and refreshing great for a summer change but the RR stuff is so much richer and just more luxurious to me. Their King Louis line of AS wax and soap is insanely good. I got a sample of this lavendar milk from Joe at Italian barber called Karite something or other, and wow that is amazing but pricey. Looking at your list the proraso stuff is cheap enough but I would scrap the OS, Pinaud, and Thayers and get one real nice AS product with shea butter and a nice RR, Taylor of old Bond street, or comparable soap.

Proraso has an alcohol free balm btw. I have the Mudder Focker, Mughetto di bologna and King Louis Lavender RR soaps. Mughetto is more floral, Mudder is a light vanilla/spice scent, and the King Louis has almost no scent. I prefer the Vigoroso over the Floid Blue, but I am probably in the minority. Highly recommend getting the Proraso pre/post (I have both varieties). I like all my Proraso products. You can probably pick up the Pinaud and Old Spice at Walgreens. I have both, but don't really use them, but they are classic old school. Maybe check out TOBS, GFT, La Toja, Speick, and Dr. Harris products.

i would highly suggest Mike's soaps and Mystic Water soap.
The Thayers witch hazel is also a very good toner. Good luck with saving money. Hee hee.

Balms "much better for your skin"?? I've been using alchohol based AS for over 40 years with no problems. Personally, I HATE balms. Just sayin......
