What the heck is this razor head? An older R41, maybe?

Okay, I admit it - I'm old. I forget things, I misplace things, some things work slower than they used to, but...how could I forget where a razor head came from and what it is?

This head is attached to a Muhle Sophist handle which I have only used a couple of times (long story). Is it the original Sophist head? Current pics show the Sophist with the traditional Muhle/Jagger closed comb head. Is it an older R41? Did I buy a previous generation Sophist with a previous generation R41 head? Did I buy the head separately and put it on the Sophist? Or something else? Anybody recognize it? Anybody? Anybody???

That's what I thought it was, but I honestly did not trust my memory. I'm still not sure if it was the head that came with the Sophist or not. Regardless, I got a terrific shave with that razor, a Feather blade and Castle Forbes lime cream today. For aggressiveness, I'd classify it as similar to the 39C and not as aggressive as Fatip, Joris or, of course, the new R41. The Sophist handle works very well for me too.

I believe Muhle bought that head from Merkur and it is similar or the same as Merkurs 3 piece open comb razors.

Interesting! I have 3 Merkurs, but no 3-piece open combs - maybe I need to buy one to compare it with. Oy, just what I need - another razor!
