What should I do with the Le Canadien?

What should I do with the toe of the TI Le Canadien?

  • Leave it as it is. It's only cosmetic. Don't fool around with it.

  • Reduce the length of the blade a fraction so the ding is gone.

  • Go to town and have a go at turning it into a French Point.

  • Give it to Art

I bought a very nice Thiers Issard Le Canadien off BST this morning.

It does have a small ding in the toe that is really only costmetic but I'm interested in what your thoughts are on what I should do with it.

Congrats! I saw this posted earlier for sale today. I think the head-on picture shows the tip bend a little better and might give folks a better idea on what to do. (ps. I voted French tip)

Well it looks like the French Point option is a clear winner so a French Point it will be. That was my preference as well.
I'll do some more practise with the Dremel in the mean time on some old blades.

You have bigger problems than a damaged blade, my friend. It would appear from the photos that your house is sideways.

I would do a French point with it!

Re-thinking about it... Spanish point would be nice too!

I wouldn't try to do that myself if I were you. Even if you practice it, it will take a while to get this type of thing perfect. Send it to one of the many who are very experienced with this.
