I realize this is my second post on shoes and I assure you that I wouldn't admit it if I had a foot fetish. :001_smile

My question is...Do you wear a racing flat for 5k or 10k races and if so, what is it.

I use flats or racers for any event.

If you plan on training or racing with them ease them into your training. If you are use to a denser sole or heavier shoe you can get shin splints and/or create too much fatigue on your feet.

Train on turf and concentrate on technique rather than mileage and then incorporate to your normal running routine.

i run in my asics kayano's for 5 and 10k's. Got bad shin splints back in highschool from overusing a pair of stiff racers. For the mile i use a pair of nike sprint spikes with 1/4 inch spikes in them.

For me, the answer depends on how competitve you are/want to be. I run in whatever shoe I've trained in. I'm slow enough that the lighter weight of a racing flat over a training shoe doesn't make that big of a difference to me.

I'm not sure if I'm disgusted by that joke or disgusted with myself for not coming up with it first.

I'm disgusted by three things:

1. I didn't come up with the joke first.
2. I didn't catch on to the barefoot 5k at first.
3. There been no Bacon in many of the threads I've read.

Of all the wrongs in the world that are not in my power to fix, the Bacon one is.

Bacon Bacon Bacon Bacon Bacon

Now there's Bacon in this thread.

IF you haven't tried running almost-barefoot in Fivefingers, just wrap your bare feet in raw bacon. After about 5k, they are cooked by the friction of the running, and you have breakfast ready.
