What's new

What is a quality polo shirt (collared) besides Ralph Lauren?

I am looking for a decent brand of collared shirts.

Ones which are thicker/premium cotton

Tall sizes

Fade resistant, shrink, etc...

I have liked Chaps in the past, but the last ones I tried on were sloppy fitting and almost paper thin.

Any other brand or store suggestions?

I would prefer to stay away from China made, nothing they make fits me good.

Ralph Lauren works well (Vietnam made) but I dislike the company and they are overpriced in my opinion.

Lacoste. I've got probably 10 Lacoste polos. The oldest is 13 years old and the youngest is 9 years old and they all still look great. They have been washed tons of times - I just throw them in the washer on cold and only put them in the dryer for maybe 2 minutes and then I hang them to dry. They are my go-to for work polo shirts. Mine are either made in France or Peru, but I can't tell the difference. When new, they cost $70-80/each (so I'm not sure how much they are today) but for me they have been well worth the money.

My LL Bean shirts are OK, but get real worn looking in a couple of years. YMMV, of course.

I've found some great deals on Brooks Brothers polos at Nordstrom when they have their sales. I picked up 5 for $19.99 each last year.

I have over 25 Brooks Brothers polos. They are fantastic. Sizing stays true, colors don't fade, don't shrink or twist (black stays black and new looking for 6 months of weekly washings, and only fades slightly after).

A few times a year they have them on sale for 3 for $129 as well. The regular fit is very generous, and they also have slim and extra slim. Maybe tall as well.

Another quality polo is made by Burberry, although I believe their plackets all made with their signature "Burberry check". A bit overbearing for my taste.

Ditto on the Brooks Brothers love. Their shirts are well manufactured and the selection of colors is downright overwhelming. What's more, their durability can't be matched. Wait for the aforementioned sale, and know that you're getting a great deal on a top shelf product.
