What Do You Use For a Quick Shave?

For the people that shave daily and sometimes quickly, what are your favorite blades. What blade do you recommend for a quick out the door shave that leaves very little or no irritation. And also cuts cleanly leaving your face smooth.

I ask this because sometimes I'm left with a small time period to get ready for work and refuse to use a cartridge!
I do like Astra SP blades in the Super Speed, but I'm wondering if there's something better and I'm looking for recommendations!

3 passes and out is my goal!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the majority of DE users will say Feather for the quickest shave. Pair it with an aggressive razor and get away with only 1 or 2 quick passes for a DFS.

Super fast shave is a quick rub with a shave stick followed by a wetting with my hands, then a fast one pass WTG shave.

Not quite so fast shave might have a little more lathering time with a brush and two passes, WTG and XTG.

Best way to save time is to skip the brush and hand-lather your favorite soap or cream. And you can easily cut that 3-pass shave down to 2. Nobody will notice the difference.

If I'm in a hurry, it isn't just my time that's limited, but my attention, too. So an aggressive blade in an aggressive razor is a recipe for disaster. Staunching bleeding can take just as much time as making a second pass or working up a decent lather.

When it's important to get out the door quickly, I put the brush to soak before hopping in the shower. After a quick rub with a shave stick, it's only 30 seconds or so to a decent lather. A sharp smooth blade (I started using Gillette Silver Blues a few days ago and am very impressed) in a mild razor (Lord L6 or Progress set at 1) will do a more-than-adequate job in two passes with minimal risk of injury. Total elapsed time: 3 minutes, max.

If I want a really fast shave I'll use my Cobra with a Feather Pro blade in it (but that's not a DE blade), second choice would be slant with a feather blade.

If I do not have time to shave, I just don't shave.

It s rare when I do not have time to shave because I always make time to shave.

Not sure if this answer helps any, but I have to agree with turtle. I got back into DE shaving so I would take more time and enjoy it. It's my personal spa treatment for the day.

That said, I do like the Astra SP. I have some Gillette Silver Blues on order after reading positive things on B&B.

I suppose I could have chosen my words a little better so that it made more sense.

If you do not have time to shave, you will regret shaving that day.

How is that for succinct? Better?

It's hard to beat what you are doing...Astra and a SS. Just do one pass and a touch up where needed. It's hard to get faster than that.

While I agree with the posters saying that we make time to shave and shaving is for enjoyment etc. etc.. I work in an office environment and shave every day before work. Even with the most careful laid out plans sometimes time is a bit shorter than desirable. So for me it's efficiency over speed and that would mean a Cadet or R41 with a sharp blade for one or two passes. Maybe not a Feather but a Black, Silver Blue or Super Iridium. I don't let a time crunch make me all "willy nilly" with the razor flying all over the place. IF I don't have time to do a pass or two with an efficient razor setup with reasonable care I will probably run a a couple minutes late. But fortunately that is pretty rare.
