Preshave: Hot shower
Soap/Shave cream: Stirling Soap Bay Rum
Brush: Perfecto Badger
Razor: Yaqi Tachi
Blade: Derby Extra SE (2)
Post shave: Gillette Gel
Rating: 9.5/10

Time to pull out the Tachi again and give it a go. It's my most aggressive razor so I have to be in just the right mood for it. But as before, it performed well. No irritation and a close shave. It will never be the most comfortable razor I have - the blade gap is equivalent to the distance between Kansas City and Acapulco - but once you get the hang of it, it can work for you.

Thursday Morning Shave Experimentation

Rating: 9.8/10 Excellent

Came across a post on B&B yesterday about using a modified SHADE (kind of) in a GEM Jr.
So in the name of Science I felt obliged to attempt it. It actually worked beautifully.
The real question we need to ask is just because you can - why should you? LOL

GEM Junior - Black Handle
SHADE - Feather Hi-Stainless (Modified)
Proraso Blue Shave Cream
Ever-Ready H40 Vintage Boar Brush
Apex Alchemy Splash Mix
Pinaud Citrus Musk Aftershave

Pre Shave: Warm Shower, Stirling Baker Street Liquid Bath Soap, Stirling Unscented Pre Shave Soap
Razor: Gillette Super Speed Flare Tip B3
Blade: Gillette Nacet (2)
Soap/Cream: Barbasol 1919 Cream
Bowl: N/A
Brush: N/A
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel, Nivea Unscented Post Shave Balm & Seaforth's Black Watch AS
Rating: 9.5/10 A comfortable efficient 2.5 pass BBS shave with no touch ups, one weeper, no cuts or irritation. First time using 1919, is very slick, not much lather, but good residual slickness. A very good shave.

Thursday Morning Shave-

IMG_0185.jpeg

Pre-Shave: Hot Shower, Proraso Red

Boar: Omega Jade
Blade: BiC

Razor:
GC 1.05p
Soap: Stirling Gentleman
After-Shave: Cold Water Splash, GFT Alum, Proraso Red

Rating: 9.5/10

Notes: BBS. Pushed it a little hard around the neck swirl area and ended up with some slight irritation again, but this was a day where I was a lot
More deliberate about following my growth paterns. Thinking about switching to a Kai with this same set up next time to see if that changes anything. The scent combo actually worked surprisingly well. The Proraso red sandalwood splash smell is fairly complimentary to any soap it seems.

Razor : Yaqi " Flipside" dual safety bar, scalloped side and open comb side. Mfg 2019>, tame mid to mid range( open comb side is slightly milder. This affordable razor head is a excellent for a decent shave. Quality Zamak razor head with excellent accuracy and chromed well for longevity IMO. Had a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Gillette silver blue(1) sharp and smoooth with reasonable longevity.
Soap : La Toja stick, mild smoke scent from manufacturing IMO with great lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Atlantis" 24mm synthetic. Excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. Reminds me when using my 2band badger brushes.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.

May 2024 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

Hello friends

Sultry afternoon here. Perfect for using one of my favorite soaps: Stirling MITA. Semogue SOC Boar, Greencult 2.0 plate II, a brand new Gillette Nacet (1) and Pinaud Citrus Musk complemented the shave splendidly.

With us, the wonderful Sonny Clark.

Have a nice evening and great shaves!

1st use of Yates 921-H Ti / Perma-Sharp (1)

After longer time of only Blackbird Ti use (- one day shave with Chiseled Face Legacy which looks like not working for me) finally arrived Yates 921-H.

I did usual 3 passes, 1st time slowly learning new razor. Yates is exceptional good from first moments, very nice and smooth. Completely different angle as Bird (Yates steep, Bird shallow), for me steep is more intuitive but no problem with both. Too early to compare efficiency, after 1st shave looks Yates is more skin friendly but cut not so deep as Bird. There is very little blade feel.

I need to practice and learn razor more, for me remain mystery why is Yates not more popular here. Definitely one of my best razors. 9/10 for 1st shave
