What did you hone today?

Taking a new stone for a quick test drive.
4k Naniwa to jnat, with just a really light amount of tomo slurry.
After a short dilution it was done.

It's still early, but this seems to be just as advertised. Fast and fine.
Maybe a harder steel takes more effort.
The stone had a really nice feel/traction.

Dorko on a Chosera 3K for bevel set to this nice 5x2.5 coticule. Not the fastest stone but it’s a nice one. Edge is very promising and HHT is there.

A man that uses a razor like that probably has criminal tendencies…might have been a Seabee as well…in my experience, rarely are those two mutually exclusive!

Joseph Rogers 5/8 ish. Synth progression until Nani 12k. Then finished on an old Nakayama on a tomo slurry dilution

Used the kiita on a refresh on Pikker Kami. Under 40 strokes on a light diamond slurry. HHT from toe to heel. This kiita leaves a simi haze but very smooth shaving edge.

A little Thuringian/ Arkansas action on this Favorit. I did have to sort out a minor geometry issue first, it had a micro frown brewing. The cutting edge on these Tanifujis is almost 3" and it's easy for the heel to get underhoned.

The factory edge had som chips and pitting, which I removed using a DMT 8000.
A Shiro Suita did the upper midrange work.
The finish was done using a finishing jnat from a hole in the ground in Japan
Koma to tomo, and Bob's yer uncle

Getting back to this coticule after neglecting it for a while. I went synths to 8k then to the coti with slurry. A good enough edge but nothing memorable.

Riga on a Suehiro 10K to this beautiful old coticule, just water. The edge is very nice. Shave test in a bit but there no doubting this one.

A bit more for test purposes. Followed the big ol coticule with this unknown UK slate. Did a slurry down to water then with a drop of soap. HHT is promising. Razor is a Jung 80

I did not buy it for razor honing.

All you need is a loupe and a good light source.

Trying out this new tomo. Went Shapton 3k, 6k to this. I followed @H Brad Boonshaft's advice and lapped the 6k a few times on the 140 plate - seems a lot better behaved now! Then on to the jnat. The tomo slurry feels pretty coarse and cuts fast, but soon smooths out nicely. Diluted down to water, stropped, and got a cracking shave, definitely not underdone edge. I'm thinking this tomo might even work straight from 3k.

Zulu time, this is my third razor honed on it. I have shaved of the first two and have enjoyed it. This time around, off of 8k and started with slurry, Water then soapy goodness.
