I'll go with the ability of a person to admit they were wrong with no qualifiers. Its rarity is what makes it so appealing when it happens.

Compassion
There are many character traits that I admire in others such as honesty, humility and others. Still there is one above all and I don't know if you can call it a personality trait. That is when a person carries themselves with a, "quiet confidence".

Truthfulness/integrity is also up there.
HONESTY. After 40+ years of dealing with people honesty ranks as the number one character trait I appreciate in others.
Integrity, I believe it encompasses all other values and virtues.

Humility... But closely followed by loyalty
I have been in sales the majority of my working career and I have to say that this means the most to me. I look at this from a customer, competitor and co-worker. I appreciate good competition and despise liars that will do and say anything for a sale. I want the truth from a customer and honesty when dealing with co-workers.
I taught these traits to my sons and expect them to be honest at all times. Your reputation is all you have and once you are known as a liar, you have lost everything.
