What's new

What brush/razor stand do you use?

I am looking to get a brush/razor stand and I wanted to know what YOU USE! I am fairly new at this wet shaving so I have only seen maybe 1/2 a dozen designs. How much should I expect to pay for different styles?
Thanks all.

POST YOUR PICTURES!!!

For my razors I just use a toothbrush holder. It's big enough that even my Futur fits. I don't use a brush stand. Just make sure they are rinsed, shaken, dry with a towel, then flip them over on the handle bristle side up.

Brush AND razor-stands are usually sold as sets. Buying a b/r stand on its own and expecting your razor and brush to fit automatically into it is a bit of a gamble, I reckon. This is my set up:

The brush is an English-made Windsor badger-brush. The stand is a simple, brass brush-stand. Total cost of these two items - about $50. ($35 brush, $15 stand).

The razor and the box are not original to each other, but I refurbished the box until it now holds both my razor and my blades. I think this might be a more possible solution than getting a r&b stand.

This is a pic of the stand I currently use, the Colonel Conk Evernice:

You can buy it off Amazon or WCS for $22-25 and it does the trick very nicely. The stand is entirely made out of chrome, has a simple design/construction, and has a pretty small footprint. The prongs it uses to hold the brush and razor can accommodate a wide variety of differently sizes, and I've yet to use a brush or razor that wouldn't fit on this stand.

Unless you are in desperate need of a multi-razor or multi-brush stand/rack, then I would say this is a good place to start.

At the moment I don't have a combo stand. Borrowing from another member on here who posted his idea I went and made a stand for my brush. When I have time to play a bit more with ideas and possibly balance points I may see if I can make a combo one. This one was free courtesy of a hanger some dry cleaning came back on.

I use a toothbrush stand that holds four razors. These are the razors I currently have in rotation.

I do have one brush stand. A medium size I purchased from Charles at QED. I use it for what ever brush I shaved with that day. The rest are standing on their handles.

Nicely done!

Sorry, I can't really give you much of an answer. My razors just sit in my shave drawer and my brush stands on its handle (bristles up of course) on my counter. Not a demonstration piece, but it works.

I made a 'coathanger rack' brush & razor stand once, but I reckon those things are too light and flimsy and unstable. I'm amazed you guys can do it without them falling over!

+1 to Beardo's suggestion. It does work well. It's not the fanciest out there, but it's relatively inexpensive and gets the job done. I, however, have found a brush that doesn't fit in there: my Vie-Long.

Thanks everyone for your pictures and ideas. I have a much better idea of what is out there.

Zephyr, I like your set up a lot. Looks great.
JackJ, The omega is SLEEEEK.
Fletch, I like the look of that simple stand. I tried a brush/razor stand and it is NOT balanced very well. I think I'll make one of these right now.

Next question: Has anyone seen any "natural" looking ones? IE, a tangled root or piece of diamond willow? Something well sanded and varnished.
I am seriously considering making one like that.

I would need a nice piece like this:

I don't have a razor stand. For my brushes when I'm drying them out, I use a cheap Chinese faux ivory plastic brush stand that i bought off of eBay for $3 and some cents.
