My wife and I like it. Artemis seems to be very consistent from year to year. One of our local Liquor stores was selling it for about 1/2 of usual price so I bought 2 cases.
Bunnahabhain An Cladach - NAS @ 100 proof
Mildly peaty as expected but no Sherry bomb as per description. The alcohol is quite brash in this one so pretty young I guess.
Picked this up from “the vault.” Somebody else had a bottle of Pappy sitting on the shelf. :-(
Ever since I had that odd 15 year bottle of rye, my first whiff of higher proof whiskey is biased toward burnt rubber. I let it sit a little and sipped a couple ounces with a splash of water and all of the pleasant wheated bourbon flavors came through. The bottle mentions floral notes. I get that, and a nice cherry note. Vanilla on the finish.
For some reason the wife bought a bottle of Stones Ginger Wine. By itself it is a bit sweet and syrupy for me, but I might try making a whisky Mac later.
Just had some Laphroaig 10 year old scotch. I kind of like it. It's different from anything else I've tried. I probably won't re-buy, because it's expensive, though.
I tried the Old Farm Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey today. It's really good! Not a great nose, but it's a spicy rye that ends tasting kind of like black pepper. I like it.
