What Are We Doing Today

My daughter and her two kids, ages 5 and 2, are staying with me while she waits to close on her house. Since my grandson Alex, age 5, goes to a daycare and preschool that is on my way to work, I've been dropping him off and picking him up.

When I got to the daycare, I had to sign the release for this week and next week's field trips. Today was a visit to the Bass Pro Shop. As I sat here at my desk, I've been thinking, I sure wish I was at the Bass Pro Shop instead of work today. Although, I can't complain too much considering I am spending some time with other gentlemen on the B&B!

So my question to everyone is, where are you today, 12/21/09, and where would you prefer to be?

Toughed out the snow and made it to work.

Rather be- at my parents house in the warm garage working on my car

I'd rather be at home organizing my cold garage so I can start rebuilding the front axle, tearing down the engine, fixing the brakes and rebuilding the mower deck for my Simplicity 9020 tractor.

In visiting the inlaws for the Holidays. I'm off work and inbetween semesters at school. My wife and two sons flew out the week before me.

I'm right where I want to be, with my family.

For those of you who would rather be some where else, I hope you can be where you want soon.

I've got the best of both worlds right now - work and family. My son works with me all the time; but my daughter, who is a kindergarten teacher, is out of school and chose to come in to "the shop" to work with us this week.

We're trying to get to a stopping point before leaving for Christmas vacation, so the daughter's help is much appreciated!

Cleaning up the place, making a batch of Nuts and Bolts. Generally just preparing for Christmas as the in-laws are coming to our place this year. (and between stirring the Nuts and Bolts. . . just enjoying all the nonsense we get up to here at Badger & Blade)

Are you going on your own or is a SWMBO or SWMBO W taking you?

My deepest heartfelt sympathies.

Right now there is, in this case, thankfully no SWMBO! I went shopping for my Mom, Dad and brother. I wound up with books for pops and bro and nothing yet for Mom. I don't like shopping, period, but I particularly dislike Christmas shopping because I never know what anyone likes and people in my family never know what they like, either. Add to that the multitudes in Manhattan, the cold weather and the fact that I've got a damned hole in my shoe and thus a wet foot and you have a very unpleasant experience! I've retired for the day and will venture out again tomorrow.

Now I have to go grocery shopping. WOAH-HO! The fun doesn't stop! (Actually, I don't mind grocery shopping. I'm just being histrionic.)
