Westshaving and Travel

Hey Guys,

So now that I'm hooked on wetshaving, I realize that I need to make sure I can "take the show on the road.". I'm leaving town this weekend for a couple days and realize I'm not really well equipped to execute a great shave outside of my shave den!

So I'm trying to piece together a solid kit. So Far, it will be:

-A Simpsons "Case" Best Badger Brush
-A AOS Sandalwood Cream from 3floz.com
-Every Man Jack Aftershave Balm
-Clubman travel styptic

So here's where I'm sort of hung up - what to do from a razor standpoint? I have a Merkur 34C, which would not be difficult to pack for travel, but excuse my naivity can you take razor blades in your carry-on? I would imagine you can't....

Any feedback on this set up? How do you guys tote your gear around?

Hello,
You are correct in that razorblades cannot go on carry ons. They have to be checked. It does suck now adays when flying since most airlines charge to check a bag. When I fly, luckily most of the time I am going to see family. If I dont check my bags, I usually mail a pack of razors about a week in advance. That a way, next time I will have blades for the next time. Another suggestion is mailing them to your hotel where you are staying.

Seems like that would most definitely make a lot of sense for an extended say - sort of sucky for the couple day trip...

Can you bring a disposable razor on the plane? Sorry for being naive - I've always been an electric man!

DE blades are not allowed in carry-on luggage. You have 3 options:

1) Check your bag
2) Mail blades to your destination in advance of your arrival
3) Purchase them at your destination.

I fly Southwest and check my bags. They don't charge a fee.

As a matter of fact that's what I'm doing for my trip out of town later today.

My dopp kit includes:
-Simpson's Wee Scot in a vintage Gillette aluminum travel tube
-Prosaso SC, small tube
-Feather Portable, Red IP's
-Nancy Boy facial toner.
-Aveda ASB
-C&S 88 cologne, travel size

For a short trip, you could always save 1 blade in it's case (esp. if it's a plastic case) and just mail the one blade. The plastic case should protect it where a the cardboard box (i.e. Red IPs) would not.
