West Bend Poppery 2

I have decided to roast my own beans and bought a West Bend Poppery 2 off ebay. I have not received it , and do not own any beans as of yet.

I have been meaning to do this for months for just never got around to it.

I have been researching all over the interent for points and tips, but would like to know if any BBs use one and the methods they use??

It sounds like the only thing I need is some metal colanders as far as tools are concerned.

It's as easy as pie.

Toss 'em in, (1/3 cup or so) plug it in, and enjoy the show.

When the coffee is roasted to the desired roast level, unplug it, pick it up, and flip it over to dump the beans (preferably into a metal colander or something).

You can use it with the lid on, or with the lid off. I've roasted outdoors in the snow with mine, in-doors in the kitchen (which consistently set off the smoke detector), and I now use it for *gasp* popcorn.

Don't over complicate it. Roasting with the Poppery II is as easy as could be.

This is a comforting post.

I have been reading about all the mods these guys are doing and it was freaking me out a bit.

Wow, that thing is fast! Almost makes me wish I hadn't bought the Nesco. Only thing the Nesco seems to have over this is that it catches almost all of the chaff.
