What's new

Went for a cruise and found a Sheraton

I took my "barn find" car out for its first real cruise (65 miles) and stopped in an antique store I have never been to before.

Found a few treasures including a E model Injector, fat handle Tech, Auto Strop case full of old DE blades (no razor), a cool ink well and this crusty Sheraton...

As you can see most of the gold plating is long gone and its a bit dirty, but the teeth are mostly straight and the doors open and close nicely.
Cleaned it up and gave it a polish with Peek and a microfiber cloth, it is now an odd multi tone Sheraton, but it will make a nice user grade razor for sure

I happen to have an empty Sheraton case, I knew it would come in handy one day :biggrin1:

Both of my Sheratons have shot plating as well, it seems pretty characteristic for these old jewels. That doesn't stop them from shaving well though, just a bit more maintenance required to keep corrosion at bay.

Congrats on that fine razor. I bet it feels great to have an empty box and then be able to find the razor to fill it.

Love it, thanks for the sweet story, and of course pics. By the way, is that first pic of the actual car drive? It looks very nice, kind of a Norman Rockwell look.

We loves the pics at B&B $tumblr_micc2gNRQS1r8mx5to1_500.jpg

Yep, that was the actual car drive.
Here is my "barn find" parked at the antique store...

and sitting in front of my house...

Thx

That, sir, is one sweet ride. It looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor and into a time machine.

What year/model is it?

Thanks,
Mike

I was going to say great find on the Benz if its diesel, but then I noticed your speedometer indicated 65mph and unless you were driving it like you stole it its a gasser. :001_tt2:

I would love to find an old turbo-diesel to take on road trips but these darn kids keep spending all the me-funds.

Wow...I wish I had Antiques stores like that near me! Mine are usually all full of old Rocking chairs, and tons of brushes / combs, although I did find a very nice stash of Personna 74 blades about a year ago in one up in Redlands!

Congrats on the super nice Score(s)!
