What's new

Well I just bought DRH Marlborough

I was tempted because of the added Cedar to the Sandalwood. Can you detect both sandalwood and cedar in it? I also bought it with the DRH Sandalwood aftershave for layering. Tell me I didn't waste my money.

Does DRH Marlborough have a strong cedar or sandalwood scent, or is it all jumbled?

ah.

jumbled, I guess.

I'm not a huge sandalwood fan, but I really enjoy Marlborough. I am a huge cedar fan - don't get it (hugely) from Marlborough.

you didn't waste your money!

The combination of those two will set off biological alarms from here to the CDC and back again.

Eau d'Homeland Security!

But hey! I hear Cuba is lovely this time of year.

Seriously, that will be a potent combination. Make real sure before you go outside or get near "sensitive" people.

I personally love cedar and sandalwood together. I find that sandalwood mellows out the cedar. I haven't tried this scent but now it's definitely caught my interest!

You wasted your money.

Go easy on the bumping.. only 1 post/bump per day!

Kidding. you get what you pay for. in this case you paid for DRH Marlborough and are getting DRH Marlborough.

Serious on bumping.

Enjoy the products!

The B&B philosophy in a nutshell.

+1

I've used the Sandalwood AS and its STRONG smelling stuff!! Its a more pure Sandalwood IMO from say Trumpers Sandalwood which is a sweeter and less potent. I had to combine the AS with my Witch Hazel to dull it down with.

As for D R Harris Marlbourough, how does it compare to say a Trumpers or C&E Sandalwood, I'm really intrigued and tempted to purchase some.

As an aftershave, Marlborough has a persistent Sandalwood note that I smell hours later. I get nothing of cedar, even as a topnote when first applied. Get this for the sandalwood.

As a cologne, i seem to get mostly cedar. A lot drier cedar smell than the shaving soap.

I get pretty good staying power on this stuff too.

YMMV too.

where's the review, mate!?

Ditto. I'd be interested in reading a review. Only having the Marlborough aftershave and not the sandalwood in any form, I only have half the picture. But that half is enough for me to guess that layering those two scents wouldn't be such a good idea. I don't get the point of layering differet scents anyway - theoretically, a good scent is blended with the right notes, and shouldn't be interfered with. Actually, I thought the whole concept of layering was using different product types that all have the same scent (e.g., aftershave, shaving cream, body soap, etc., all in the same scent range) to enhance one's scent experience. But whatever floats your boat. I'd go easy on it, though, until you know how the two work together.
