This weekend I am in NY on business so a trip to Pasteur's was a MUST! I ended up at the 62th and Lex location and went on a three hour bender… I am suffering bad from all the AD’s!
I came awfully close to smelling every shaving product and testing every Simpson brush in the place. I ended up getting Fitjar Sapekokeri Slatterroy Barbersape Citrus and Bay Rum Shaving Soap, Provence Sante Shaving Soap and Cologne, Bath House Spanish Fig & Nutmeg Shaving Soap, Mitchell’s Wool Fat Shaving Soap, RazoRock Cumba Cheech Orange Blossom & Jasmine Shaving Soap and After Shave Balm, Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum After Shave/Cologne/Skin Toner (Bay Rum & Sandalwood and Bay Rum, Lime & Peppercorn), Caswell-Massey 1752 Sandalwood, some Marvis Classic Strong Mint Toothpaste and a Simpson Special 1 and Keyhole 2 Brush. It was hard to narrow down the two brushes, but I can use the Special 1 as a great travel brush and keep the Keyhole 2 at home. So... why not buy both?
I have read here in the forums how poorly the Caswell-Massey soaps/creams perform, but I have a bar of the Sandalwood in the shower at home and LOVE the smell. I will beat it into submission if I have to. I cannot wait to put all of these products into my rotation and will try to post my thoughts on each. My plans today are to use the Simpson Special 1 with the RazoRock Cumba Cheech Soap and ASB.
Steve Schimmel and his staff were all very helpful and really nice. Steve personally thanked me for stopping by and we talked about various discussions here on B&B. I mentioned the need for some small travel containers to put various products into while on the road. He stepped away and came back with six various GFT samples that have screw on tops. Problem Solved! If you are fortunate enough to make it through NY, a trip to Pasteur Pharmacy needs to be on the bucket list.
I might go over to the 34[SUP]th[/SUP] street location on Monday or Tuesday (just to look of course!).
