Wee Scott - opinions?

Gents,

Any opinions on the Wee Scot?

It is small (Ht: 67 mm Loft: 36 mm Base: 31 Knot: 14 mm, according to Shoebox) and gets some praise around the Net.

I am dead curious to have and try one.

Maybe just as a companion to the Eagle ;-)

It's a fun little brush to use! I see it as being very nice for travel as it's small and dries quick, but it's nice for using at home too! It makes very rich, creamy lather. It's size definitely doesn't determine its latherability. I think if I give it some more time it'll get up to 3 passes easily.

I bought one just because I just loved looking at the brush and always brought a smile seeing it next to my others and found that there's a place for smaller brushes in my heart. :001_tt1:

Here's a picture of my Wee Scot with my RV Keyhole, Case, and Stubby 1. :wink2:

I love my Wee Scot..As you become better acquainted with its use three passes will be no problem..This is a very impressive small but serious brush..Its great for putting the lather exactly where you want it and it uses soap/cream very sparingly..If you decide to get one give it a fair trail..Use it 30 or 40 times then see if it meets your original desires..It will make excellent later using everything from creams to Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap..That said the Wee Scot is not for everyone and YMMV....

Best regards,

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

And thanks especially for the picture with the comparison to the other brushes.

That is very helpful.

I'll order one and see if it is a good as I hope it is!

I love mine and give it a lot of praise. Used it for yesterday's shave and had enough lather for 3 passes and a touch up.

Can you tell me what the brushes are in this photo?

Wow...

That is small in comparison...

Are these all typical 22mm, 4-5cm lofts?

The brushes from left to right are:

Simpson's Tulip 2 (loft 49mm knot diameter 21mm, EJ Best Badger Brush (loft 53mm knot diameter 21mm), Kent BLK 4, Savile Row 3824 (loft 54mm knot diameter 24mm), Rooney Finest Style 1 size 2 (loft 48mm knot diameter 24mm), Simpson's PJ3 with Custom Shavemac DO1 knot (loft 44mm knot diameter 24mm), Wee Scot (loft 36mm knot diameter 14mm), EJ DE89L for scale.

fine sir, how would you compare the wee scot to the EJ BBB? Would you recommend one over the other for any particular reason?
The EJ BBB is definatley a more usable everyday brush than the Wee Scot. I only use my Wee Scot when travelling and find it is perfect for that. But for everyday use you can't go wrong with the EJ BBB.

It's a wonderful little brush! :thumbup1: You will not be disappointed, although I admit some might find it a bit too small for daily use. BTW, what are the two brushes to the left and right of it in the first photo? I see that they are super badgers made in England, but I am wondering which company made them.

those two brushes appear to be Vulfix brushes.

The Wee Scot is a fun little brush. I can't say mine gets much use as a daily brush. It mostly sits on my desk and watches along as I browse the forums and do homework. For a couple bucks more I'd say go with the Special or the Case if you want something with more utility. If you just want a micro brush that makes you giggle when you pick it up and play with the knot, get a Wee Scot.

The Case really is my utility brush, but I love the Wee Scot too. They both get a lot of use, but I would give the slight edge to the Case.

The Wee Scot really is a penny pincher brush though, it uses practically no product.

So, If you had to choose between the Simpson Special and Case, which would it be and why? Whichever you would choose, how would you stack it up against the EJ BBB?
