Watch Repair Kits

Can anyone recommend any kits? I'm looking to change batteries, remove links and casebacks, etc. Saw some on Amazon but quality looks dodgey. Thanks in advance.

They are...I have an el-cheapo from Amazon and it's just fine for snap on case backs. The lug wrench for screw backs is real iffy and I'm afraid to use it.
You can find better ones for case back removal for about $10.00 on Amazon. For good stuff Google watch parts and buy from a real parts supplier.
And good luck...:thumbup1:

Thanks. I despise poorly made things...

Don't open a good watch yourself, unless you know you know what you are doing. I wouldn't open a watch worth more than $200. Take it to a watchmaker.

I debated this exact scenerio today. My beloved T-Touch Expert is telling me that it is time for a new battery. I looked online and it seems easy enough to do, and its only a CR2032 battery. So do I take the risk of messing up one of the sensors, messing up the water tight seal, or spend the extra money and send it in for service. Incidentally the price difference between the two options is huge even with buying a nice set of precision screw drivers.

I decided to error on the side of caution and impending poorness, it is on it's way for service.

I'm kind of interested in a recommendation as well. I have a couple Chinese knock off movements that I'd like to take apart and learn. One out of a Rolex Daytona is a really good copy of an ETA 7750.

If you just want to play watchmaker then get the Amazon kit. It will work fine on a junk watch.IMHO:001_cool:

I bought one of the cheapie kits to handle bracelet adustments and regulating movements.

While it does the job, the watch back wrench included is really poorly made. It's hard to dial it in properly.

The bracelet pin removing gizmo broke when I attempted to use it on a bracelet with very tight pins. Ended up having to pay 10 bucks to have the bracelet resized. I'll eventually replace these items with higher quality tools.

I'm comfortable opening up the back of my affordable Asian watches to do the regulating thing but I would think twice if I owned an expensive watch.
