I use a preshave oil from grooming lounge and it seems to help on those problem areas. My question is should I be washing these oils off before working on the lather?

I use a pre-shave oil when face lathering a stick, I use Proraso pre-shave for everything else. I leave it on and wash everything away at the very end. I have not idead if that is the correct method, but always made sense to me to leave it on.
