Want to clean and polish a Gillette Sheraton

Recently I acquired a Gillette Sheraton. It is in very good physical condition, with no bent teeth. The handle has something of a reddish tinge to it. I assume this is merely the result of its years.

I've recently seen instructions on how to clean old silver DE razors. But I'd like some help on bringing this old girl back to her beauty.

Thanks so much.

Clean a Sheraton with Scrubbing Bubbles or hot dish soap water and a tooth brush. Since this is a gold plated razor you can't really polish it.

I've read that Windex does the trick for gold razors.

nah, just use scrubbing bubbles, if you take a survey 8 out 10 members gonna say scrubbing bubbles. its a no brainer, try it.

And toothpaste. A little bit of toothpaste on a toothbrush used to LIGHTLY scrub a gold plated razor will bring back some of the shine.

Good advice here...Do not use metal polish or you'll take off the lacquer and maybe some plating leaving ugly swirly brown marks. Ask me how I know...

A short soak in a bit of OxyClean in a bowl of hot tap water works pretty well, too. Toothpaste is OK. Scrubbing Bubbles is OK.

With gold razors; No Bleach, No Boiling, No Abrasives/Abrasive Cleansers.

It should shine right up with a modest cleaning.

I have found that windex eats the lacquer and facilitates the removal of the gold. Toothpaste helps with the shine. The copper you are seeing means the gold finish has been removed.
