Want a dense non-Simpson brush - Recommendations?

I am in the market for a new brush. I would really like one that is dense but that doesn't shed (or has had a ton of reports of shedding - obviously its impossible to prevent it completely)

Recommendations are appreciated. I have Duke 3 that I like but the shedding is out of control and I want to try a new brand. Thank you in advance!

Another vote for Rudy.

Ask for a as3m type, and a shavemac knot.

I recall Shavemac DO1 3 band being quite dense, as was Rooney Heritage 3 band (at least the model I had was). Of course nothing beats Rooney Finest if you can find one.

Wiborg brushes look pretty dense, I don't have any experience of the brushes and the prices look pretty steep so they might not be a viable option but I thought I'd throw the option into the ring...

Apart from a custom Rudy Vey brush, I 'd recommend Semogue SOC 2-band. Nice tips, not as soft as e.g. a Rooney silvertip but great backbone, no shedding in 4 years that it has been in my regular rotation. Great brush, excellent value for money.

As mentioned, Shavemac, Rooney, Wilborg and Wet Shaving Products Manchurian is also a great brush/knot. Good luck.

My Shavemac D01 3 band does not shed either, never has. Soft with backbone, density and good flow.

No brush should shed after the few few shaves and if it does, there is something wrong with it.

Rooney Old Style is the densest brush I have ever experienced but it's also the softest and requires a bit more product.

This thread seems the right place to ask a similar question. I am looking for a high density badger with a larger knot, 28-30mm, with soft tips and good backbone. I haven't seen a Rudy Veh brush or Whipped Dog brush that large. Perhaps I should just ask both of these sources. Have any of you who are familiar with Shavemac seen a brush that large?

^ my 26mm Shavemac Silvertip Bulb comes in at just over 28mm at the base. It's amazing bowl lathering brush.

While I have had excellent luck with a large Simpson herd I spread out to new Rooney and Thiers Issard brushes. TI in 23 and 26 mm knots is billed as extra density. I bought a 23 and I believe the claim. There are excellent reports on the 26 as well. Worthy of strong consideration in my opinion.

They seem to measure their knots differently so they are larger than expected by about 2mm when set in a handle. I'm reasonably certain that Rudy could make a brush for you with Shavemac D01 knot that size. It's going to be expensive but I do think you will get what you pay for.

TGN USED to (2 years ago maybe) have a 30mm grade A that was very respectably dense, especially for the cost. You had to set it low to get good backbone, but it was plenty soft. If that knot's still available, I'd consider getting a brush made with it.

Valuable suggestions. Thanks. I just emailed Rudy Veh and gave him particulars on a large custom brush. I'll see what he can do for me when he responds. Well, I need to get back to NFL Monday Night Football. The Chargers isn't my team, but they are giving the Colts fits with their newly found running game. I'm in awe of the Chargers blocking. I haven't seen much of that in the NFL East.

Rudy has made several 30mm brushes for me. I just received one a few weeks ago (TGN 2-band) and expect another to arrive tomorrow (Shavemac Finest). The 2-band TGN knot is very dense, as are the Shavemac D01 knots - both the 2-band and 3-band versions.

Wiborg also makes very nice, very dense 2-band brushes.
