Wade and Butcher Restore Project for Antique Store find today

I have been looking for one of these all over Denver for a week now and I found one today!!! Also found a 1940's (at least that is what they told me) glass bottle 1/3 full of Pinaud Vegetal!

Anyways, the scales look great in person and the discoloration appears to be surface only..... what do I need to do to get the blade polished up before I have it honed? What tools do I need?

I would just hit it with metal polish like Flitz, and have it honed.

Mirror finish is overrated.

where do I get Fitz? Home depot? Should I use steel wool at all if the oxidation is stubborn?

Most of the big box stores carry metal polish. Have you seen this thread, lots of great links.

MAAS also works well. Ace hardware is where I found some. Mothers metal polish also has many fans

Real nice find. A W&B Frameback. There's a terrific video by Brad Maggard showing exactly how he does it. It starts about 4 minutes in.

Mother’s mag polish and Turtle Wax polish from Wall Mart works almost as well.

Apply with a paper towel and buff, will shine up the scales and pins as well. Flitz and MAAS are on line. Hard to find in person.
