W&B restore

My first restore and thanks to B&B member, deezyrocks, I got this beauty Wade and Butcher wedge.

Here are a couple shots of the beginning of the restore. The blade needs more of a polish. I won't take it down too far because I would like to leave the pitting. Maybe not a mirror polish but close.

The scales are one piece and made of Bocote. I really like the grain on this wood. Funny, the raw wood does smell like pickles. I got the general shape but it needs some refining and progressive sanding. I want a natural finish so probably beeswax or tung oil.

I have to look into pinning. I think I will go with some sort of micro fastener.

Forgive the poor photography:

One design critique - you may find that the pivot end is a bit 'wide'.
Depends on your hand and grip I suppose.
Generally - I try to thin that area a bit so my fingers aren't so spaced when shaving.

100% on that. I have modified the shape at the pivot end. I will probably thin the scales some more as well. I'll post updates as I move along. Hopefully, my photography is better too.
