W&B History

Guys please tell me if you agree with me... I think after reading this article carefully, I found something very interesting.

On page 3 of this article, there are some figures... There is a picture of an export label for cutlery (See the first attachment to this reply). The label is dated c.1850 and it says W&S Butcher as the manufacturing company. Now under the subsection titled "Trade with America" it states that in the MID 19th CENTURY (approximately the same date the export label was selling a cutlery product under W&S Butcher),

"the firm sent large quantities of open razors, pocket knives and bowie knives to the USA".

The article also states, that there was a NY office that was run by the Butchers' business partner Robert Wade, and they "traded under the name Wade and Butcher"

So does this mean that the name of the company was actually W&S Butcher, but the razors that we have that are branded Wade and Butcher are razors that were produced in Sheffield by the company W&S Butcher specifically for trade with America? WHOA!

Now this probably has no impact on quality but I think that this is an interesting piece of information.

Does this seem like what the article is saying or am I reading this incorrectly.
