i have one on my pipe and i wanted to reshape it , put it in hot water, i have done this in the past with great results, this time it made a deep brown color, is this the same as oxidation, can it still be removed as to be black again

Brother, according to here, it's the same as oxidation, and the bottom of that link has a way to fix it. Alternately, there's another fix here
