Vitamix Anyone?

Hi All,

I've been looking at the Vitamix 5200 lately. Mostly for healthier eating but also liking the convenience in prepping and cooking foods that it shows.

Anyone here have one who can comment?

Thanks! :biggrin1:

wow, I just saw this today and was going to ask the same question. My local costco has it for 499$ and they are giving a 1 year 'no-questions asked' return policy. The salesman in the store made some amazing gelato:thumbup1:

I'm going to look at Costco today and see what packages they are offering. I really only want the basic 5200 kit which seems to have a street price of $450 shipped so we'll see what Costco has to offer. I've been watching the videos on their site and the scrambled eggs demo is just cool.

Well I'm never one to turn down a new toy. However, I'm not a great believer in the juicing side of it. When you eat a fruit or vegetable, you need the fiber.

On the other hand, that gelato sounds interesting!

That's supposedly one of the benefits of the juicing side. It doesn't remove the pulp/fiber. It all stays in and the power of the Vitamix makes it all smooth.

Mer, I answered you in your thread on SMF, but I just wanted to add again for everyone here that a Vitamix is definitely worth it. I use mine all the time and love it.

I have had one for over 5 years and use it most everyday for a protein shake in the morning. My wife and kids use it for smoothies often as well.

We got it at our annual fair. They have great deals there. There are independent agents that travel around the country working just fairs.

I found a 4000 VitaMix on ebay several years ago. Although it doesn't have the clear container, it is as powerful and useful. Also, its got a great retro stainless steel look.
If you don't want to spend all the money on the new one, check the bay.

We just bought the Blend-tec a few weeks ago at Costco. It's still a little warm here in Texas to think seriously about soups, but man, it makes a mean smoothie! We can sneak all kinds of things into the mix and our veggie-averse daughter doesn't realize there's actually some healthy stuff in her drink.

There are a couple of Blend-tecs and at least one Vita-Mix in the extended family ... you won't go wrong with either one.

I researched the blendtec and Vitamix quite extensively. Bottom line, you can't go wrong with either. I'm going to get a blend-tec personally when I get the coin to drop on it.

As of yesterday, I have a vintage Vitamix 3600 that my grandma gave me. I always told her that I liked it, and she said she probably hasn't used it in two years, so it's sitting on my counter right now. I haven't used it yet, but hopefully it still works well.
