What's new

violet temptation

I was given a Geo F Trumper Violets test pot with my razor purchase and over the weekend got to try it out..

On opening the tiny pot I assumed I'd get one shave out of it if I was lucky. Turns out I was wrong, I got three, 3 pass shaves from that one little 1 gram pot! Not only that but they were top notch shaves too, this is one of the slickest creams/soaps I've tried (not that I've tried that many).
Will be considering some of this, or one of it's siblings, when I need to replenish my lather producing supplies.

Lovely stuff.

Geo F Trumper Violet will always have a place in my product rotation, I love the scent and performance of that cream. Too bad the corresponding soaps are miserable, as I would really like a violet soap as well.

I am seriously considering give Jabonman a go, based on the positive response. Their lmtd web presents and shipping cost have curbed my enthusiasm for now.

Thank goodness the GFT Violet is readily available and rocks

At €23.50 a standard size pot, the resulting lather had better set off fireworks in the bathroom, find my lost set of house keys, feed the cats, and have my beer chilled for me when I get home from work! That buys me 4 tubes of Speick or 15 tubes of Palmolive.

Well a little goes a long way. I've just got 3 shaves from 1 gram of the stuff so a 200gram pot could well last over 18 months, so it might be better value than first appears?

I love the overall performance of GFT Violet. Very good cream. But unfortunately, its deep violet hue permanently stained the hair on my favorite Rooney Stubby 3XL brush, which cost me a 'pretty penny' to purchase several years ago. Anybody out there have the brush staining problem with this Violet also?

I got really good shaves with the violet, and it was nice and slick, but I could not deal with the scent. It was like somebody jamming flowers up my nose. SWMBO would not approve.

Trumper Violets is one of the best creams around, period. The soap, not so much. All of Trumper's soaps (and those of Penhaligon's, Truefitt, Crabtree & Woods of Windsor) have been ruined by the firm that now makes them, Soapworks of Glasgow.

Glad to see others enjoying the GFT Violet cream.. I have a tub of this one and when I feel for a little extra pampering I use this one with my CH3.. facelathering..

I wouldn't say so.
Violet was one of the best-liked scents for men in the 19th century. Together with lavender.

It´s a special scent which not everybody likes. I do.

Go for it! I loved this when I got it. Suggest you get some first in the tube (think it's a 75g), then when you've used that and feel that you've enjoyed it, get the screw thread tub, which costs a bit more but obviously will last you more.
