Vintage Travel sets

Whats with all the Brushes in Vintage Mens Travel Sets?

I see that many of these old sets have 2 or even 3 rectangle shaped brushes. Why would a traveling man need these brushes? Even if the man likes to use a brush for his hair, why would a travel set have 2 or 3 of them? Why would the set also include a comb?

What don't I know about men's personal care in the '40s - '50's?

Men often use two military brushes, one in each hand.

I can't just use the same brush on my eyebrows as I do on my feet.

Thanks guys. It seemed strange to me as I almost never use a brush for anything other than to shine boots.
