Amazing. Speaking of Max the way he was depicted in the movie was nothing like real life. From what I've read he never would have insulted anyone's wife or acted that way in public. Wonderful find. You should contact his son.

Yeah, I read Jethro is a multi millionaire. More than 50 million!
Don't know if he has it at the Commerce Bank in Beverly Hills.

I'm decades (half a century?) too young to have ever seen Max Baer fight. What I know of him is based on historical accounts. The thing that resonates most with me is how he opted to wear the Star of David on his boxing shorts when he fought Mac Schmelling when the latter was used as part of Hitler's propaganda machine (1) to tout the alleged superiority of the Aryan race and (2) to deny the atrocities committed by the Nazis against the Jews in Germany. IMHO, that makes him a hero in much the same vein as Jesse Owens and Joe Lewis.
