Vintage coticule ID/restoration suggestions

Well, I'm heading down the rabbit hole of collecting new rocks. Though my collecting will (try to) be on hiatus for 2013. I guess you would call this more of a bout since it's not perfectly rectangular.

Picked her up on the bay. She measures 8"x1.25"x.5". All coticule, no shale or BBW.

She's got some interesting manganese lines and spots.

Has a crack on one end but it doesn't appear to be an issue.

Here's another side shot to help with ID.

So I'm pretty sure I can get rid of most of the white adhesive with a razor blade/gentle prying. I plan to lap it down on wet/dry paper that I'm going to tack down to a piece of granite tile, a' la Slash McCoy method from an older thread. The bottom is convex so I'll probably lose a 1/4" there, at least. It doesn't seem to pool water as readily as my La Grise but perhaps that's just how it behaves before lapping? lots of very cool coffee colored waves in the surface that don't translate well in my photos.

I'm open to any and all suggestions on how to proceed. Really want to get this squared away and put some steel on it tomorrow if time permits.

Don't lap the bottom! You only need to hone on one side unless the other side is different. Looks great by the way, I was watching that too. Nice snag.

Ok I'll let the bottom be. I do want to clean out the adhesive before I remount. I may fill it in some so it sits higher in the paddle. I'll try lap the top tomorrow and report back.

Looks great, clean up the back just enough to re-glue it. Nice piece of wood with some good epoxy should do the trick.
