Vintage colognes and/or aftershaves

I retrieved a box of some of my vintage colognes and have started to use some of them lately with pleasant results for the most part. They include British Sterling, Grey Flannel, Chaps (about two drops left) Brut, Preferred Stock, Stetson, English Leather and quite a number of Avon scents (mother-in-law used to sell Avon). Of course there is quite a bit of Old Spice and some others but you get the point.

I have two questions:
1. Have any of these been reformulated and if so can someone direct me to a thread where that is discussed.
2. Do many of you still wear some of the vintage scents?

I have seen that many still use AV and OS but I was curious as to the status of some of these old classics.

Thank you gentlemen,

Doug

My arsenal presently includes: British Sterling, Brut AS, Preferred Stock AS (just a .5 oz sample; not a huge fan of it), Stetson (cologne and aftershave), English Leather (cologne and aftershave), Canoe (cologne and aftershave), Avon Wild Country (aftershave).

I also have the drug store classic aftershaves like Aqua Velva, and Skin Bracer.

Basically I am a huge fan of anything I can get for reasonable prices. At the moment, I can get .5oz bottles of Canoe, British Sterling, and English Leather cologne for $2 each at Dollar General. :thumbup1:

Some has been reformulated if you Google one you will find all kinds of info about them but put vintage in the search. I have mostly vintage AS and Colognes I have a few new ones I've bought used or new but love finding the deals on the older ones like I found a 3/4 full bottle of colors I liked the smell so I bought it for 7 bucks and when I Googled it I found it was launched in 1988 but recently reformulated and not as good but I got lucky and got the older stock.
Here's a couple sites I use.

I love that all these great products are so readily available and relatively inexpensive. There are many comments in threads about reformulation, but I don't recall seeing threads that are soley, or even primarily discussing reformulation of these classics. Maybe someone else can point them out, otherwise, you may have to search item by item. I've seen (and made) comments on English Leather not being as rich now as I remember it in the 60's. Brut also seems a little less rich smelling. I don't recall being aware of much change in some others, like Stetson, British Sterling, Canoe, and I haven't smelled Avon's Wild Counrty since the 60's.

Good luck.

I also have some vintage aftershaves such as Jade East, Hai Karate, and Old Spice. These are the original formulas in their original packaging. I don't use them, just have them for the shave cave.

I used both Jade East and Hai Karate when they came out.

concerning chaps , I am under the impression that it was recently reformulated ( within the last few years ) I believe I read about that over at basenotes
