vacuum pot suggestions

So I am in. After reading the Vacuum Pot vs. French Press thread I am ready to make the jump to vacuum pot, but which do I buy? Not interested in spending hundreds of dollars so a mid-level, great value is what I am looking for. Question about filters still exist - I will be doing research on this in the coming days, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and thanks for adding this to the lists of disorders. :scared:

The Yama 3-cup for the best balance of quality and volume.

The higher the volume, the lower the quality. (I prefer my 2-cup Hario, but it really isn't enough volume for the sake of consumption.. I use it mostly for aromatics and roast analysis purposes. It's my second favorite brew method. Cupping is my first favorite.)

If that's not enough volume, I wouldn't go any higher than the 5-cup.

I also have a Bodum Santos, but it rarely ever gets any use(comparitively). The coffee I get from it doesn't compare to the Hario, and I have a lot more control over parameters with my french press.

Basically, vac-pot produces a better cup.. assuming it is a small-volume vac-pot.

I hate the gold and the significant markup, and the lack of a spirit burner, but otherwise it's the same as my TCA-2.

Just a cost-conscious tip, TCA-3's have been spotted on e-bay fairly regularly. New ones.

I like a butane burner for control. Very similar to this one. http://www.amazon.com/Alec-Bradley-Burner-Table-Lighter/dp/B001CZJMT2

Of course, SM sells one as well.
