Used Badger Brush Buying Tips

Hey Folks,

I stopped by an an antique shop on the way home from the office today in search of a new to me '50-'60's Gillette. Didn't find a razor but I did find about 4-5 badger brushes.

Can anyone provide some used buying tips?

Cheers,

Buy what looks attractive to you.

Chances are the bristles are past their prime but you can replace the old knot with a new badger or boar one and end up with a nice brush for less than what a top shelf brand name would cost you

Here is a restored Rubberset 200-1 small barber's handle brush with a new badger knot in it that I have

Yes, assume you are only buying the handle. Watch out for really cracked or weathered material that might just disintegrate in your hands while you are working on the brush. To be honest, I don't even notice the condition or type of hair/bristles that a vintage brush has, I just see the handle.

That Brush is simply amazing!!! Im trying to find the forums where we can discuss exactly this! Ive got several Vintage handles that I would like to re-know but cannot seem to cind the correct forum to discuss in (and I don't want to break any rules so sorry if I've "hi-jacked a thread here lol) ..
