What's new

Update from yesterday- much better

So yesterday I shaved with my new straight razor. It said on the box that I didn't need to strop it first, so I didn't. The shave was rough and not comfortable. So after I finished shaving I stropped it for the first time. This morning I stropped it again before I shaved. The results of the shave were MUCH better. It cut the hairs much easier and it was a lot more comfortable. I guess what happened was after Lynn honed it, it was sitting around for a period of time before it was sold (which someone on this forum mentioned). It seemed that the blade needed a good stropping to wake it up and remove any particles from it. I don't usually shave on the weekend, but I will make an exception in this case because I am eager to try it again. I also like stropping, I'm doing a pretty good job at it.

Great! Focus on your stropping technique, it will only get better! And make sure you give your face a day off if you have a bad run with lots of irritation.

Stropping will align the blade's edge and remove any oxidation. Always strop your razor before you shave, even if it's purported to be "shave ready!" Of course, improving your technique will improve your shave experiences. Good luck and enjoy!

R-brush...glad to hear your #2 was better! I had a similar experience.

It seems that as I go along, every day when I finish pass #2 (my last str8 pass) I find less and less stubble. Its still there mind you, and I have a LONG way to go to duplicate my DE experience (ATG with a str8 is a total mystery to me due to my hair pattern) but I'm making progress too!
