Upcoming trip to Boston - Colonial Drug?

Hello fellow B&Bers.

I will be in Boston on business starting tomorrow through Saturday morning.

I've done some searching on the forums for the best B&M shop in the area and it appears to be Colonial Drug in Harvard Square.
However, many of the posts I found were posted in years previous, so I'm hopeful some of you will chime in and let me know if this is still the best B&M shop. If not, is there another shop I should visit? Please post your thoughts.

the art of shaving has a store in Boston. east of the convention center, NE of fenway. I used to walk by there, off the turnpike.

you're welcome. be sure to sniff out any brands you have interest in. I do that at the stores here in nyc that way if I ever have to order blind I remember the fragrance. take notes!! lol!

From my understanding you have one of the best B&M shops anywhere, Pasteur Pharmacy. I'm looking forward to my next trip to the city so I can check it out for myself. In Boston, I'm going to do just what you said. I have my notebook ready.

Colonial Drug is a great place to visit. If you are going to visit Colonial, be sure to walk about 10 minutes down Mass Ave. and check out

Leavitt & Peirce
1316 Mass Ave.
Cambridge, MA

Leavitt & Peirce is best described as a Gentlemen's shop that seems to carry mostly cigars and pipe tobacco, but has a small, but good shave section. I don't smoke, but love the aroma every time I step in Leavitt & Peirce, if you smoke, you're in for a treat..

Thanks Robert. I don't smoke either, but I'll definitely stop in and check it out. My grandfather owned a tobacco farm and smoked a pipe so I do love the smell of pipe tobacco.

I'd recommend Leavitt & Pierce.
Oddly, it appears that Colonial has had it's Yelp reviews 'cleaned up' in recent months.

Leavitt & Peirce is a fun store.

Colonial Drug is sketchy. Unfriendly staff and small shop. A lot of goodies there though.

Definitely check out Colonial Drug, if only for the MASSIVE Plisson brush in the window by the entrance.
